I went to Ditka's with my family for my celebratory dinner prior to my graduation from law school. http://ditkasrestaurants.com/ Overall, it was a very solid dinner. The wait staff was tremendous. I got the medallions and a twice baked potato to go with my glass of classy red wine. Unfortunately, Elizabeth was unable to attend as she also had a family dinner to go to. The worst part of the dinner was that a large group was seated right next to us so it got loud at times.
After a very filling dinner, we were offered dessert and both MacKenzie and I ordered the creme brulee. MacKenzie and Dave were supposed to send the photo of the brulee but I have yet to receive it. MacKenzie stated that it was the best brulee that she has had, but as most know it takes a very sophisticated pallet to understanding the flavors and complexity of a great brulee.
Overall, I would give Ditka's brulee a 3.5 stars out of five. First, the positives: (1) it was a very big serving; (2) it had a mixture of fresh fruit on top.
However, there were also a number of reasons why it did not score higher. First, the burnt top was not evenly done and needed to be a little more crisp. Second, the custard was missing a wee bit of flavor.
Overall, this was a very good brulee, but it was missing some of the smaller aspects that makes a good brulee great.
